Suspended Access Equipment Training

As of January 1, 2017, there are new Regulations for Suspended Access 213/91 Section 138-142.

These include changes to inspection, setup, training, documentation and notification to the Ministry of Labour.

The pre-requisite for doing Suspended Access User and Installer training is to have your Working At Heights training. You will need to provide proof of training.

Successful participants will be issued a Record of Training.

1 Day Suspended Access User/Operator

Training will consist of oral and written instruction for using a Suspended Work Platform System or Boatswain’s Chair, including instruction on….

  • Regulations under the Act

  • Related Fall Hazards

  • Selecting, putting on, using and inspecting PPE and it’s components

  • Identifying and using fixed supports

  • Components, functions and limitations of tiebacks and operational controls

  • Reading and using Roof Plans and Work Plans

  • Load limitations

  • Emergency Rescue Elements

     

    Training will also consist of the worker being able to demonstrate proficiency in….

     

  • Selecting, putting on, using and inspecting the PPE

  • Rigging procedures and tying knots

  • Locating fixed supports identified in a Roof Plan

  • Safely operate the Suspended Work Platform

  • Operating the control of the Suspended Work Platform

2 Day Suspended Access Installer

Training will consist of oral and written instruction for using a Suspended Work Platform System or Boatswain’s Chair, including instruction on….

  • Rigging

  • Methods of securing beams and equipment

  • Fixed supports

  • Principles of suspension lines, hoisting devices and load limits

  • Manufacturer’s instructions for assembling, installing and disassembling

  • Reading and using Roof Plans and Work Plans

  • Securing platform to face of a building

  • Electrical systems

     

    Training will also consist of the worker being able to demonstrate proficiency in….

  • Installing rigging hardware

  • Inspection of cables and terminations

  • Tying number of different knots

  • Correct set up in line with Roof Plans, Work Plans and manufacturer’s instructions, including:

    • Selection and use of fixed supports

    • Setup of equipment

    • Use of hoists from reeving cables

    • Use of descent controls and emergency controls

    • Impact of different Work Plans on setup of equipment

    • Protection of Public Ways Reg 242/16,s.11.
